Friday, 29 November 2024, BPS Aceh Province together with the Aceh Natural Forest and Environment Foundation (HAkA) held a Book Review entitled "Two Decades of Deforestation in Aceh: From Forest Loss to Declining Welfare" at Hoco Lambhuk, Banda Aceh.
Tasdik Ilhamudin, Head of the General Section of BPS Aceh Province, emphasized that the preparation of the book was a manifestation of BPS Aceh Province's commitment to utilizing data. "The synergy in preparing this book can provide real benefits for the development of the Aceh region and become a strategic step for the welfare of the community," he said.
In line with that, Agung Dwinurcahya, GIS HAkA Coordinator, added the importance of in-depth research. "Long data that reveals the facts of deforestation since the 1990s encourages analysis of its impact on disasters and the Aceh economy," he explained.
This book reveals the impact of loss of forest cover which can trigger disasters such as floods and landslides and affect the social and economic conditions of society. The presentation of the contents of the book was delivered by Marzi Afriko, socio-economic researcher, together with Eldina Fatimah, lecturer in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University.
The discussion session involved stakeholders, such as Bappeda Aceh, BPBA, DLHK Aceh, BPKHTLW XVIII Banda Aceh, BMKG, and BPDAS, to confirm data and enrich the analysis and integration of the book's substance.
