BPS-Statistics of Aceh Province and USK Postgraduate School Discuss Doctoral Program Cooperation

Monday, February 24, 2025 - Head of BPS-Statistics of Aceh Province, Ahmadriswan Nasution, made a working visit to the Postgraduate School of Syiah Kuala University (USK) to discuss the planned collaboration to develop a doctoral program oriented towards statistics. In this meeting, he was welcomed by the Director of the USK Postgraduate School, Prof. Dr. Hizir Sofyan, who is also a Professor of Statistics and Chair of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) Outreach Committee on South East Asia.

This discussion highlighted the importance of increasing the capacity of human resources in the field of statistics to support data-based policies in Aceh. Prof. Hizir emphasized that a doctoral program with an interdisciplinary approach will strengthen statistical analysis in various development sectors.

Ahmadriswan said that this collaboration includes opportunities for joint research, strengthening the curriculum based on sectoral needs, and a scholarship program for BPS-Statistics employees who wish to continue their studies to the doctoral level. It is hoped that this collaboration can produce doctoral graduates who are not only excellent in statistics, but also able to apply it in regional development.
