Tuesday, February 25, 2025, BPS-Statistics of Aceh Province together with the HAkA Foundation held a Book Launching and Talkshow themed "Two Decades of Deforestation in Aceh: From Forest Loss to Declining Welfare". This book reveals how deforestation in the last 20 years has impacted the environment, increased disaster risks, and decreased community welfare.
In his remarks, the Aceh Regional Secretary represented by the Head of DLHK, A. Hanan, emphasized that Aceh is facing great pressure due to deforestation, but the government continues to strive to manage and protect forests. Founder of the HAkA Foundation, Badrul Irfan, emphasized that protecting forests means protecting life. Head of BPS-Statistics of Aceh Province, Ahmadriswan Nasution, emphasized that it is not too late for Aceh, there is still an opportunity to act.
The talkshow hosted by Nur Hasanah presented three speakers. Lukmanul Hakim from the HAkA Foundation revealed the trend of deforestation in Aceh in the last two decades. Yudhie Satria from BPBA explained the need for preparedness efforts to face increasing disaster risks. Dr. Ir. Eldina Fatimah from USK discusses the relationship between deforestation and community welfare and policy solutions.
This book is not just data, but evidence-based reflections and recommendations to maintain the balance between resource utilization and environmental sustainability. It is time to act for a greener and more sustainable future for Aceh.
