Friday, March 1, 2024 | The Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Aceh Province, Ahmadriswan Nasution, released the Official Statistical Report (BRS) of several strategic indicators at the Teuku Umar Hall of the BPS Office of Aceh Province. The release agenda was attended by Aceh government officials, academics/researchers, the private sector, the press, and data users from BPS Aceh Province.
Ahmadriswan presented an overview of the development of Aceh's statistical indicators as follows:
Development of Consumer Price Index in February 2024:
Aceh Experienced Monthly Inflation of 0.71%
In February 2024, Aceh experienced monthly inflation (month-to-month/m-to-m) of 0.71%; annual inflation (year-on-year/y-on-y) of 2.33%; and calendar year inflation (year-to-date/y-to-d) of 1.13%. Commodities that have a dominant contribution to monthly inflation include red chili, dencis, purebred chicken meat, cooking oil, potatoes, rice, green chili, cayenne pepper, milkfish, and squid. February 2024 inflation in Aceh was recorded higher than the national inflation rate of 0.37%.
BPS monitors the development of the Aceh Province CPI in 5 districts / cities namely Central Aceh, Meulaboh, Aceh Tamiang, Banda Aceh, and Lhokseumawe. The highest annual inflation (year on year/y-on-y) occurred in Central Aceh (4.06%) and the lowest occurred in Lhokseumawe (1.50%). The cause of annual inflation in February 2024 was due to price increases in almost all expenditure group price indices. Commodities that dominantly contributed included rice, clove cigarettes, tomatoes, red chili, granulated sugar, rice with side dishes, purebred chicken meat, garlic, gold jewelry and hand-rolled clove cigarettes.
Development of Farmer Exchange Rate and Grain Producer Price February 2024:
NTP February 2024 Increased 0.77%
Aceh's NTP in February 2024 amounted to 117.28, an increase of 0.77% compared to January 2024. Aceh's NTP is still lower than the national NTP of 120.97 which increased by 2.28%. Of the components forming Aceh's NTP in February 2024, it was recorded that the Price Index Received by Farmers (It) amounted to 135.47, an increase of 1.58%. The main commodities contributing to the increase in It were grain, corn, and coffee. Meanwhile, the Price Index Paid by Farmers (Ib) amounted to 115.50, an increase of 0.80%, with red chili, tuna, and cayenne pepper as the main commodities contributing to the increase in Ib.
Monitoring grain prices in the districts of East Aceh, Pidie, Bireuen, North Aceh, Southwest Aceh, Nagan Raya, and Pidie Jaya recorded an increase in the average price of Harvested Dry Grain (GKP). At the farm level, the increase reached 1.16% to 6,565 rupiah per kilogram (kg), while at the milling level there was an increase of 1.24% to 6,687 rupiah per kg.
Tourism Development January 2024:
Foreign Tourist Visits and Room Occupancy Fall
Foreign tourists (foreign tourists) who entered Aceh Province in January 2024 were 2,389 people, down 48.11% compared to December 2023. Meanwhile, the January 2024 Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) conducted on star hotels also decreased by 11.74 points, to 24.23%, compared to December 2023. This TPK recorded a decrease of 1.55 points compared to January 2023.
Transportation Development in January 2024:
International Flight Passengers Up 6.75%
In January 2024, air transportation passengers in Aceh Province reached 32,068 people with 31,048 people recorded at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport. There were 21,985 domestic flight passengers, while 9,063 international flight passengers. The number of passengers recorded a 16.71% decrease for domestic flight passengers and a 6.75% increase for international flight passengers compared to December 2023. As for sea transportation passengers, in January 2024 the number reached 72,882 people, down 23.95% compared to December 2023, and down 15.13% compared to January 2023.
Fixed Figures of Harvested Area and Rice Production in 2023:
Realization of Rice Production in 2023 Decreased by 6.97%
The realization of rice harvest area in 2023 was 254.29 thousand hectares with rice production of 1.404 million tons of milled dry grain (MDG). This figure has decreased compared to 2022. The decrease in rice harvest area is around 17.46 thousand hectares (6.43%) and rice production is 105.22 thousand tons (6.97%) compared to 2022. Potential harvest areas and rice paddy production in the first quarter of 2024 are estimated to have increased by 138.66 thousand hectares (26.29%) for harvest areas and 151.10 thousand tons (24.98%) for rice paddy production compared to the first quarter of 2023.
