Call to Commemorate Disaster Risk Reduction Month (PRB) 2024

Tuesday, 8 October 2024 - Head of BPS Aceh, Ahmadriswan Nasution, representing the Main Secretary of BPS, attended the 2024 Disaster Risk Reduction Month (PRB) Commemoration Ceremony which was held at Balai Meuseuraya Aceh this morning. This event is part of a series of DRR Month Commemoration activities which will take place from 8 to 10 October 2024 in several locations in Aceh Province.

This event aims to promote a culture of disaster mitigation in Aceh and throughout Indonesia. Various Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) officials throughout Indonesia as well as agencies, Aceh Government Work Units (SKPA), and community organizations working in the field of disaster relief and preparedness were also present at this rally.

The call was filled with a message from the Deputy for Prevention at BNPB, Mrs. Prasinta Dewi, who represented the Head of BNPB. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preparedness by all elements of society in facing potential disasters, especially in the Aceh region which has a long history of facing tsunami disasters. "Aceh has demonstrated extraordinary resilience since the 2004 tsunami, and continuing to develop mitigation efforts must be a priority for all of us," he said.
